“Shower Caps” for Shrubbery?!

I’m a dork! I seriously should have known better.
In my defense it was very hot and I had been working outside for quite a while when the decision was made to trim up our boxwoods.
Maybe I was dehydrated??? That’s musta been it! Yeah….DEHYDRATED. (insert eye roll here)
ANY WOO…
Papa Gnomie and I were cleaning out a shed and found a leftover hedge trimmer inside. We plugged it in and found it worked perfectly! (Yeah! Free stuff! Thank you previous Green Gable home owners!) We promptly marched ourselves to the front yard and took a huge swipe at our over grown boxwoods. We were feeling really great about the progress and pleased about how well the newly found hedge trimmer worked…What a score!
Clean up happened…sweeping happened…admiring happened. They looked amazing!
THEN…..
My master gardening and overall life experience suddenly rose up from my dehydrated mind and I thought “Hey, its pretty hot out here…and we are in the middle of a huge heat wave..I wonder if this was a bad time to trim them up?” I went inside and “gave it a goog” and to my chagrin I read its a TERRIBLE time to hedge trim your boxwoods. UH. OH.
They listed several solutions to save your boxwoods from death but the only one I could do was “provide some shade to them in the hottest part of the day” (which here in a MO July is ALL day). Hence…SHOWER CAPS aka Queen size fitted sheets.
I bet the neighbors wonder ‘what the heck?!” every time they drive by…which led me to the next idea for boxwood “accessories”.

Hey! when you make a mistake you might as well make the best of it! LOL
I think they should have names…one definitely needs to be “Grover” or maybe…Oscar the Grouch?
I may not be a great ‘how to’ gardener but I can definitely show you what “ta Not to“!
Have a Blessed and Wonderfully Gnomie Day!
